Go Big Red! Lincoln, Nebraska Rocks On Game Days!

After having lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for the past three years, it feels so good to now look out a window and see palm trees, desert, wide blue sky, distant mountains...and Jack In The Box!  Carls Jr!  Dunkin' Donuts!  7-11 convenience stores!

Finally...food as we know it!  Lol!

Now don't get me wrong...Lincoln has it's good points.    One major example is that you've never seen true football loyalty towards college and even high school teams until you've witnessed Husker fans in action!!  There's a lot of NFL teams that would love to boast of having this kind of undying fan loyalty, too...but can't.

Husker fans and Football go together like bacon and eggs, and these fans definitely make sure that their teams know that they're loved!

During football season, each and every street leading to Lincoln's downtown stadium is packed with Husker fans and their children all dressed in red and white clothing, and shouting "go Big Red!"
Grandmas and Grampas with canes and walkers as well as college kids who've tossed their books aside all join in with the fun of not just being at the game but letting everyone else know that there's only one important issue today...TO WIN!  The atmosphere is that of a Football Block Party!

Rain or shine makes no difference, either.  It just means that an umbrella needs to be brought along with the beer cooler!

We could all take a pointer or two about team spirit and loyalty from these people!

If you're not much of a football lover, though, don't worry.  Here in Lincoln, you don't have to be a diehard fan in order to enjoy the atmosphere of Game Day.

Everywhere you look, you'll see vendors hawking their wares of T-shirts, balloons, and neon light sticks on street corners, as well as 'entrepreneurs' who've set up their homecooked burritos or barbeque ribs at the edge of their lawns!  The aromas, alone, make you want to stop whatever you're doing and go pig out!

Since parking is so limited, you'll also find many people displaying homemade signs at the edge of their driveways, letting needy drivers know that for just ten or fifteen dollars, one can "park here!"  Even a small yard can usually squeeze in 6 vehicles...

One Kabredlo's Convenience Store even closes its' gas pumps a few hours before each game starts so that people needing a parking spot can be packed bumper to bumper inside that store's lot.

Lincoln, Nebraska  definitely shows all of us...especially on Game Days...that one can have fun with family and friends while proving undying team loyalty, and also how to create 'business' through Supply and Demand with no bailouts nor stimulus packages!

Maybe our politicians need to be moved from Washington D.C. to Lincoln, Nebraska in order to be shown how it's REALLY done!

GO BIG RED!!!
